ocean swimming

WOW, I never thought I would say I love swimming in the ocean…… But the past two days here in Kona, Armando and I have been swimming the course of the Ironman World Champs. I have a major fear of the ocean, no actually I have a fear of WATER, SO lake, or ocean they are both the same. This is something that I have come to accept, as if i want to do a Triathlon, I gotta do the swim!!!!

Everything here in Kona is going great, the weather has been perfect…….the days are not too hot and windy, so either our heat acclimitisation in France was perfect, or the weather here on the island isn’t as hot as in past years!!! But I am sure on Oct 13 around 2pm in the afternoon, I will be hoping for cool temps!! at that stage I will probably be in or near the famous ENERGY LAB!! …………….this lab is true to its name, it doesn’t give you energy it zaps it right from under your feet. Well that is what people say, but for me, I turn it into a positive and say it is going to give me energy, it is going to give me energy!!!! you get the idea??

So swimming in the ocean is great, biking on the Queen K is great, running on Alii drive is great!!

Must away, nap time, one of my favourite times of day! I never thought I would say that either!

cheers

COOLNESSS

YIPPEEEE

We have finally arrived at our second to last destination!! well off course our last one is home!! Arrived to the BIG ISLAND OF HAWAII, yesterday, my flight and travel from California, was all great. A little bit of traffic getting to the airport, a bit of unloading, a bit of waiting in line, being searched, a starbucks at the the gate, another rental car to get familiarised with!! IT IS ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL GOOD.

Checked into our vacation rental, normally we are in a condo here in Kona, but this year we have decided to go with a rental property, actually the LANDLORD OF THIS HOUSE IS FROM AUSTRALIA!!!! so that is great. Had an amazing sleep last night, or whatever time of the day it was, woke up after 10.5hours NEW!!! So had some kona coffee….yum, Armando is building the P3 MACHINES, and me, I am unpacking the most important part the clothes!!!

Well must away, the porridge is nearly boiling over!! take care and i will be in touch again soon, and let you know how the my first tackle of the QUEEN K GOES!!!!

cheers to kona coffeeeeee

SLEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPP

WEll good morning to everyone!!

Now this is a very interesting time for us Ironman athletes. It is a time where things are starting to calm down, and we have to unwind……BUT in saying that we still have to get everything ready to leave our training bases and FINALLY head over to the race headquarters KONA!!!

So, in this time resting, sleeping, stretching, eating healthy foods, and a little bit of training is what we must do to perfection. I am here in California where I have spent the past 10 days with Armando’s friend Alejandro(awesome guy), just chilling out. We have had sooooooooooo many laughs that I feel like I have done one of my major core exercises all day long. I love it. It is just what I need right now.

The weather here is amazing, pretty much every day it has been in the mid 80’s…….which for us kiwi’s mid to high 20’s. Now that is just perfect. We are off on friday to head over to kona!! I am very excited to get there, everything is done! All I have to do now is to sleep, sleep and sleep some some more.

I will write again tomorrow and let you know how our packing is going!!

France 07

Thinking about the future
wow how cool it was, thinking back and thinking forwards, the time spent in France was soooooooooooooooooooo cool. I did all my training in the South of France, being based at the New Zealand High Performance camp. Our home was a huge french villa set back 1km from the road……priceless to say the least. My training was awesome, up and down the pyrenees on more occasions than I can count on my hands and feet, the running was amongst vineyards and sunflower fields yet again priceless!! 10 weeks of training day in and day out, it was a different buildup than I am normally use to, Armando and I did alot of our training with other athletes, and these athletes were allllllllll good, it pushed me everyday to knew lengths of tiredness and fatigue, but hey i think that is what training for the IRONMAN WORLD CHAMPS is all about, pushing yourself to new levels! time will only tell, onwards and upwards. Catch you again soon, aureviour and bye see you again soon.
