Wade Irvine : Soft-tissue massage therapist @ Bodysmart Gym, Auckland CBD

Wade Irvine is a massage therapist and director of BodySmart whose line up of clients has included elite athletes such as the All Whites Football team and the Auckland Blues.

But Wade's work is not just about sports stars, he also offers massage therapy to the other 99 percent of the population who may suffer from exercise related aches and pains and need some rehabilitation. He has been a massage therapist for a decade after completing a Diploma of Therapeutic Massage at the New Zealand College of Massage in Auckland.

Wade often gets referrals from doctors and physiotherapists for people recovering from surgery or sprains and strains so they can get back on their feet as soon as possible. Wade also spends time with athletes at the Academy of Sport when they are training hard prior to a big competition.

His work time is flexible and massages can range from half an hour to over an hour. For people wanting an early session before work Wade often starts at seven am.

Wade works with other colleagues at BodySmart so clients can benefit from having personal trainers and a physiotherapist on board as well if they need more help. Wade, and another therapist Roger, set up BodySmart at Victoria Park market six years ago.
